Heading up in life

We had been for a small 500km ride last weekend, to prepare for an upcoming dream event. The route was very scenic, passing through dense vegetation, and taking a nice circular coastal route.
Incidentally, we passed by one place where we had come as school kids for our 3 day camp, and it brought back a flood of very fond memories...

Sigh, only if I had a time machine...

Anyways, here is the route map, as recorded faithfully by my new Garmin 62s....

Oh Leh!

A couple of years back, I made my maiden bike trip to Leh, assuming that that was the epitome of my life, a dream come true, and thats the end of it.

I was SO wrong! It turns out that it was the beginning of a very strong and long term relationship. There is something about Leh which is haunting. Its almost like there is a world before Leh and after Leh. You are not the same person before, you make that trip. And even before you finish your trip, you find that you are already making plans for the next one...

Even though it is been years since I went to Leh, there has not been a week that I have not thought about leh, or sighed over the huge stack of pics. I have relived my trip through the pics of my friends who have been there. Some do share their pics, while some act pricey :P (Yes, I am talking about you - S)

However, at this moment, my thoughts are with all those affected by the recent cloudburst. May the souls of those who perished rest in peace, and may God give those affected strength to bear this calamity.

(Another 54 days before I get Leh'ed again...)

The Native Place

A couple of weeks back, I had been for weekend trip to Kamshet. We were put up at a the Native Place, right on the banks of a lake formed by the Vadivali Dam.

Its a beautifully designed place, with well thought of rooms, and tons of hangout places. Its a perfect place to go with a bunch of friends and do just nothing but talk.

It was raining heavily throughout the time we were there, and hence could not indulge in outdoor photogaphy, but here are a few pics to share...

The entire weekend was just fabulous specially due to the awesome company. We had a lot of fun playing board games, dumb charades and getting in high spirited conversation.

The worst part was the ride home... While coming back, I had my worst crash till now, and here are a few painful pics...
The reason of the crash was loose wet gravel which increased the breaking distance by 10-15 feet. My cousin's i10 skid pretty badly on this surface before crashing into us...
