Thought from the hip...

When I was a kid, I used to dream of having a remote with a pause button.
Now, I yearn for a remote with a fast-forward button…

Out of Bombay experience

Had been to an very interesting place recently. Its just 10 minutes from my place, but gives an true out of city experience.
I didn’t get a chance to take pics, but will post them as soon as I get a chance.

Title rights: Krish Deshpande. He was wondering if we were out of Bombay already!

Optimism

Even if you look at the brighter side of something untoward, it does not take away the fact that something untoward *is* happening.

Random ramblings

Another day rolls by...each day blends into another,
Like the unending highway stripes...
The only thing that stands apart is the milliseconds of joy felt, seen, experienced.
And that's mine.
Only mine to savour...

Mobikes keep you young

I knew this all along :-)

Riding motorcycles helps keep drivers young by invigorating their brains, the scientist behind popular "Brain Training" computer software
said on Wednesday, citing a new scientific study.

"The driver's brain gets activated by riding motorbikes" in part because it requires heightened alertness, said Ryuta Kawashima, after his team from Tohoku University and Yamaha Motor conducted a string of tests involving middle-aged men.

"In a convenient and easy environment, the human mind and body get used to setting the hurdle low," he warned. "Our final conclusion is that riding motorcycles can lead to smart aging."

In one, which required the men to remember a set of numbers in reverse order, riders' scores jumped by more than 50% in two months, while the non-riders' marks deteriorated slightly. The riders also said they made fewer mistakes.

BTW, bikers also make good cage drivers.

Get your buzzz...

This blog is inspired by Praveen Sathye. The original thought is his.

We were chatting about the difference between contented human beings, and non haves.

One particular point that came up is that everyone needs some buzz in life. You may get it from riding a bike, or reading a book, or singing, or playing a guitar, or progressing in your career. Or just plain old sleeping.
I am at peace when I am riding. Its pure joy, thrill, and happiness, all rolled into one. I give it a 10/10. The problem arises when I expect the same from other things in life. Which is not possible.
From what we guessed, those who appear contented, get their buzz from multiple things. If not riding, then get your buzz from playing a guitar, or cooking. Shouldn’t matter if you get a 2 in each, but make sure you get a 10/10.
That’s the mantra.

PS: Doesn’t it sound like the standard advice from any Investment Adviser? "Diversify your portfolio."

Yeah, right. Easier said than done.
